"The first in the Citizen Warrior Series, HONOR DUE introduces us to the Major, a denizen of the Pacific Northwest rainforest who has built himself a wilderness retreat complete with hot tub & killing fields, his neighbors & his faithful companion, the three-legged Black Dog." "HONOR DUE is a gripping tale simply told about living an honorable life, settling old scores & haunting memories from the Vietnam War. It is also about hair-raising hunts, personal responsibility, tender & strong women, & strong & tender men." "The Major, solitary for most of his life, believes in keeping fang & claw sharp. He has a sense of humor that will crack your funny bone in unexpected places. He also has an unblinking eye in the face of danger, & knows his weaponry & his neck of the woods like the back of his hand. He is, however, a man with a frozen heart, & when H'Blon turns on the burners, it thaws before her fiery intent. This is a warrior who finds flying bullets preferable to flaming female glances. Yet, being a dogged individual, he persists even if, sometimes, he must extract foot from mouth." "With not a wasted word, D. H. BROWN has crafted a fast-paced, electrifying manly modern thriller (& love story), about how the past can come back to bite you, giving honor due to fallen brothers-in-arms, & stepping forward into the future." "Like elk steaks, free-range chicken eggs, home-baked pies with apples from the orchard & good coffee, HONOR DUE is a satisfying read with something to say about how we live our lives."

If Kisses Were Bullets
If Kisses Were Bullets…by H.X. Sin The Middle Muse 2006, ISBN 097858007, $13.00, 268 pages
At first glance the book reads like a coming of age story where the character has to “come of age” twice because he messed it up the first time. This is ironic because as you come upon the plot, a series of murders, in the late stages of the book you begin to wonder if you missed something. Re-reading the book for clues to the murders makes you feel a bit like the main character having to start over. The best and worst thing about this book is that it relies heavily on the assumption that you will read it again but if you’re willing to ignore the standard conventions you’ll find yourself lost inside the pages.

Pirate
Pirate by Ted Bell
Atria, July 2006, 605 pp.
ISBN-13:978-1-4165-1079-6
ISBN-10 1-4165-1079-6
Featured in September 2006 is the thriller "Pirate" by Ted Bell, hardcover published in 2005 by Pocket Star Books. This is third in the Hawke novels and is available in paperback form.
Rather than a book about pirates, it's more of an action fiction involving the counterterrorist operative hero, Alexander Hawke. Espionage, navy seals and world dominance weave the tale in a setting from Paris to Hong Kong and Oman in the Middle East. Nonstop action delivers three story plots simultaneously. This adventuresome tale is not recommended for the squeamish.

Jock Brocas’ “Powers of the Sixth Sense” is a unique and compelling work dealing with the most important issue in our world today, namely our security as individuals, members of society, and in a broader sense as guardians of the natural world. Drawing from his experiences in the armed forces, international and private security and as a consultant to some of the leading blue-chip corporations, Jock presents a wealth of information in the practicalities of personal, corporate and national security. He cites case histories and anecdotes with relevance and insight, often highlighting critical details with the eye of the professional insider, but always with compassion and understanding of the human condition and the individuals concerned. Sacred Stone
Sacred Stone, a novel from the Oregon files by Clive Cussler Paperback: 544 pages Publisher: Michael Joseph Ltd (5 Oct 2006) Language English ISBN-10: 0141010320 ISBN-13: 978-0141010328
There has been much criticism surrounding the factual details within this book. Sure, the book clearly shows how the authors have likely never studied a map of the UK, and perhaps some British people might get annoyed at the inaccuracies of train station announcements or a barman being called a bartender, but these are just small details and can be forgiven seeing as this is not real life, but a work of fiction! (I wonder how many British authors get American places and expressions correct.). So what if the book puts Edinburgh west of Glasgow; it's not a geography book, but an adventure novel set in a make-believe world. Perhaps the writer was holding the map upside down? It's also likely that most of this book was written by Craig Dirgo, but seeing as Clive Cussler invented the characters in a Dirk Pitt novel he owns the copyright and therefore the co-writer writes the book under his guidance. The style is very different from his Pitt and Austen novels, and it does tend to jump about and is sometimes hard to keep up. And it’s true that there are far too many characters involved. However, all this aside, the book is a refreshing change from the standard Pitt and Austen adventures. The Oregon files introduces us to a completely different hero, the ever-inventive leader of a band of mercenaries with a conscience, who only go into battle for what they believe in and feel will have a positive effect on mankind (Sounds familiar!). Sacred Stone is a compelling read and it did keep me wanting to turn the pages to see what happens next, which is always the mark of a good author. I put another unfinished book down to read this Cussler book, and did not regret it. This just goes to show that Cussler’s books are still a cut above the rest.

Silent Whispers in Stone Garden
Silent Whispers in Stone Garden by J.A.Z.I.
This book was amazing! It was easy to read, fast moving and engaging. It's a ghost story that shouts down the evils of child abuse and its negative effects on victims and society as a whole. The hero, a detective from a small town in Maine, and a victim of child abuse, meets the ghost of an 11 year-old boy who enlists his help in bringing his killer to justice. The boy was raped and brutally murdered by a brutal serial killer and could not rest until his killer and the killer of 11 other boys his age are brought to justice.
All I could say about this story was....WOW! The name of the Book is Silent Whispers in Stone Garden from a random website called Publish America. I never even knew the site existed until I heard about it and the book on Air America Radio.
